best practices

Best practices lead to effective treatment and satisfied customers

Guidelines we aim to follow:

  • Comprehensive Hearing Assessment: This comprises air conduction, bone conduction, speech audiometry, tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing. Degree and type of hearing loss is determined along with speech understanding abilities in quiet and amongst background noise.

  • Communication Needs Assessment (CNA): The CNA helps formulate the most appropriate treatment plan if there are hearing difficulties. In addition to your hearing loss,  lifestyle, budget, cosmetic preferences and other capabilities are taken into account. We will also obtain a measure of your perceived handicap with hearing difficulties.

  • Coupler Measurements: An electroacoustic analysis is performed to ensure that hearing aids meet the manufacturer's specifications closely. It is a quality control measure.

  • Real Ear Measurements: Prescriptions found in hearing aid software for treating hearing loss is usually an estimate and not an individualized measure. This real-time test is performed with a microphone and hearing aid present in in the patient's ear canal. Everyone's ear characteristics differ and may therefore affect amplification that they receive in various ways.

  • Validation Measurements: After implementing a treatment plan, we issue questionnaires to ensure that you are satisfied and receiving appropriate benefit. This also allows us to make adjustments as needed.
